Liquid cooling Systems

are designed to dissipate a large amount of heat in a densely packed electronic environment. Liquid Cooling Systems (LCS) are self-contained units that recirculate a coolant to a preselected temperature set point.

With the new THERMAL WIZARD, an advanced web-based thermal selection/calculation tool, Laird Thermal Systems simplifies the selection of thermal products and systems.

There are two types of liquid cooling solutions:

Liquid heat exchanger systems are used to cool the coolant in a liquid circuit to ambient temperature. In addition to the heat exchanger system, the unit consists of a pump to circulate coolant and a liquid circuit to transfer coolant from the heat source to the Liquid Cooling System.

Compressor-based systems, or recirculating chillers are used to cool the coolant to well below ambient and dissipate heat to the outside environment. These units consists of a compressor based system instead of a liquid heat exchanger assembly.

A lot more features can be added to the standard Liquid Cooling Systems, including control of temperature, variable flow, bypass, coolant filtration and electronics. Laird Thermal Systems’ Liquid Cooling Systems are operating in numeros applications within industrial instrumentation, medical diagnostics & treatment, and semiconductor fabrication.

Custom configurations are often required to design the optimal liquid cooling system. Laird Thermal Systems has more than 35 years of experience in designing, manufacturing and servicing custom liquid cooling systems for various high-end markets.

Our engineers have the expertise to design cooling systems that are compatible with water, water glycol, transformer oil, or various corrosion prohibitors.

Since pressure conditions may change rapidly, Liquid Coling Systems may require temperature control of multiple liquid circuits or multiple pressure drop settings. Laird Thermal Systems are experienced  in designing both systems and has the ability to integrate additional features into the system such as:

WL Series, Water Cooled

Water cooled systems are designed to keep the temperature of the coolant at or near ambient. The WL Series is a compact, reliable recirculating liquid to air heat exchanger that is capable of removing large amounts of heat from a liquid circuit. The water or water glycol (antifreeze) mixture used in the system is re-circulated by a high-pressure pump to ensure maximum flow rate. A radiant heat exchanger absorbs heat from the coolant, which is dissipated into the ambient environment using a brand name fan.

WL Series, Water Cooled

WW Series, Liquid-to-Liquid

By using facility water as hot side heat mechanism,  Liquid-to-Liquid systems can achieve higher cooling capacity while maintaining a compact form factor. For WW Series systems, water is used as coolant while OW Series systems are designed to utilize oil as the coolant.

WW Series, Liquid-to-Liquid

WLK Series, Recirculating Chillers

The WLK Series is a compressor-based recirculating chiller that deliver dependable, compact performance by controlling the water or water glycol (antifreeze) temperature in a liquid circuit. A pump with a high MTBF is recirculating the coolant and a compressor-based system absorbs the heat from the coolant, which is dissipated to the ambient environment. The unit is covered with a durable sheet metal casing and comes with an easy-to-use digital temperature controller with pushbutton interface. Standard cooling units have a capacity of up to 3 KW. However, custom solutions have been designed to remove up to 200 KW of heat.
